All About Water In The Lab

When manufacturing various products in the healthcare markets, you must have a comprehensive understanding of the water used in that process and a plan for this critical supply. Water used for pharmaceutical purposes is detailed by the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) to ensure the health and safety of the public. It is critical for manufacturers to understand the role water plays in their supply chain in order to ensure not only a constant, consistent supply but also that it is appropriate for their products application and intended use. Not having or using the incorrect water could provide to be a very costly mistake.
Some companies invest in their own internal water systems based on the thought that having an in-house water system seems like it would be the best way to provide the water they need. These systems can quickly become costly and labor intensive to maintain. These companies also need to take into account they have to be prepared for planned and unplanned system shutdowns for maintenance and due to changes in the quality of the water or microbial contamination, as not having water is not an option.
The solution for many companies is to use third-party vendors to supply them with the packaged water that they can use. The problem here is that most providers can only guarantee the specifications of their water at the time of fill and the company itself has the ultimate responsibility for the water that they use. This means that just because a company bought water that meets specifications at the time of filling, that doesn’t necessarily mean the water meets specifications at the time of use.
Where does that leave you? You can either install and maintain a costly water system, or go with a third party vendor who can only guarantee that the water meets specifications when it was at their facility. That doesn’t work for us. It’s true that most suppliers of water can’t guarantee the chemical and microbiological specifications of the water beyond the fill, but at Chata, we’ve created custom-engineered packaging systems that we have validated their ability to maintain these specifications at the time of fill, as well as at the time of expiry.
Chata has worked over the past 12 years to develop and commercialize these packaging systems that provide water that meets or exceeds USP requirements and we’re excited to be providing a solution for companies stuck between two unappetizing choices when it comes to procuring water. Our packaging ensures that our water will meet the same chemical and microbial specifications at the time of fill as when the water is used.
Whether you rely on a third-party vendor to provide your water or whether you need to store an emergency backup stock for your internal water system, this means you can have water on your shelves, ready for use, when the need arises. Chata is the answer. Call Chata today if you’d like to learn more about our custom-engineered packaging systems and how we can supply your company with the water you need that will stand the test of time.
