Boval – A Community Company
Posted By admin / 30th May, 2017
Boval BioSolutions doesn’t have any clients in the town of Cleburne, TX, where we are located. Boval serves a global client base, but sometimes it’s important to remember that we can still have a tremendous impact in the town where we live and work.
We believe that companies should forge connections in their communities and become involved in helping their neighbors. It was in that spirit we decided to close down our entire office, so our team could help restore a home in the community. For one weekend, the team put aside their work and lent some helping hands in renovating the home of a single mother and her kids.
The volunteer work was done in partnership with 6 Stones, an incredible organization that is dedicated to building and revitalizing communities in Texas. Through 6 Stones’ Community Powered Revitalization program, our team got the chance to give back to the town of Cleburne that has been our home for so many years.
What the team didn’t know when they agreed to help repair the home was that the homeowner would be a familiar face. It turned out that the homeowner they were helping, Sonya, was a waitress at a local restaurant where many Boval employees regularly eat.
The Boval team is small, just over a dozen people, but a weekend of work ensured that Sonya’s home was renovated and restored.
At Boval, we recognize that life is about more than labor and that companies need to connect with the community that they exist in. It isn’t enough for everyone to live in their own separate bubbles, traveling to and from work, and ignoring the community around them. Building a strong connection and becoming a community company is important to us, even if we don’t have a client within a hundred miles of our town.
Our Managing Member, Cody Yarborough, said it best:
“I think we became connected to the larger community. We service a global client base; no clients here in Cleburne, certainly. But it was a way for our guys to connect and see the world within the city we operate in. That’s very important. People were needing help, and by the same token, I think we helped ourselves. We transformed ourselves into better community partners.”
Life isn’t just about the products you make and the paycheck you cash, but what you give back to others. Sometimes we all need a helping hand and that’s why we feel it’s important to give back to the community when we can. Sure, we could have just written a check, but that wouldn’t have had the same impact.
When you volunteer your time and presence, that’s when the real connections are formed. It’s why we were happy to volunteer with 6 Stones and make a difference in the life of someone in the community.
