Spotlight on Company Culture – Rachel at Boval
Posted By admin / 3rd Nov, 2017
One of our brands at Lifecycle, Boval BioSolutions, manufactures Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) and Human Serum Albumin (HSA) formulations that are used in diagnostics, cell culture, labs and medicines around the world. We think Lifecycle is a special company and we wanted to share with you a little bit about what makes it such a great place to work – and to do business with.
We thought it might be best if you could see it through the eyes of someone who knows the business best, so we asked Rachel Mitchell, the General Manager at Boval, to give us an idea of the company’s culture and values.
Rachel manages plant operations at the Boval plant in Cleburne, Texas. She also oversees procurement, and is responsible for employee engagement, cost management, budget planning, capital spending, and project management at the plant. So it’s safe to say that she has some good first-hand knowledge about the day-to-day work and operations of the plant.
We asked her what she thought of as Lifecycle’s values. Here’s what she had to say.
“Customer Centric, Integrity, Commitment. These are a few words that come to mind. The core values that we share as a company are to be relevant, commit, be admired and be accountable. I think we strive for these values on a daily basis at all levels.”
Rachel is certainly right about the four core values we strive for. They make up the essence of what we want to do and who we want to be. Everyone defines success differently, but we believe that working towards, and achieving, those core values is the best definition of success for our business. When we put those values to work, we have the ability to innovate and serve our customers at the highest level. Here’s what Rachel had to say about that innovation.
“We have the skill sets from a number of creative, thought provoking people and never a shortage of ideas, so when you put all of those things together- we have the perfect environment to be innovative.”
We don’t take that drive to innovate for granted. In fact, we help foster it through initiatives like our M.I.T. training program. We do these things because at the end of the day, our products and services are being used for some essential purposes in research and medicine. We asked Rachel what she wanted people to know about her work.
“It’s very purposeful. The best thing for me about working for Lifecycle is that the products we sell impact human and animal lives. Even though we might play a tiny role in the large scheme of the world, we still have an impact in the companies we support that are driving those live saving technologies. That thought gives immense purpose to our daily actions and activities and drives us to want to make this company better tomorrow than it is today.”
It’s tough to ask for a better mindset than that from your employees, but that’s how our team really feels about their work. It’s vital, it’s important, and it does play a role in medical breakthroughs and new technologies.
